Optimism Bias

I think that if humans do not have the optimism that they have now, the lives of people would not be so enjoyable. Because people would not want to strive for the better, suicide and illness rates increase amongst people, mostly teenagers and lastly, success rates go down with everyone not willing to try or retry since they feel that they would fail without a doubt.

People would not want to strive for the better as a result of lack of optimism as people might feel that what they are about to do, striving for the better, would not bring any advantage to them and so they might just want to do a bit of something and feel that the work is done. This would make a slower productivity rates in many areas such as education, economy and home issues too. With that, things would take a longer time to complete and skills would be more difficult to obtain since people would not want to strive for the better and thus, lives of people would not be so enjoyable.

Suicide and illness rates increase amongst people as a result of lack of optimism as people might not have the resilience to cope with stress, work, failures etc. Suicide rates will increase mostly amongst teenagers as they might not be able to cope academically and they feel that they will never be better due to negative thinking and might not think straight since they are still young and immature. Illness rates would go up because of people not wanting to find a cure or not wanting to get a cure when having a serious illness and choose to wait for death instead of trying to cure it. Thus suicide and illness rates increase amongst people and lives of people would not be so enjoyable.

Success rates go down with everyone not willing to try or retry since they feel that they would fail without a doubt. Without determination, persistent trying, work would not be easily done but those also require resilience and optimism, but since people are not willing to try since they are afraid that they might fail, success rate would go down. People tried but failed might not want to try again due to fear of failing again, thus success rates go down with everyone not willing to try and again lives of people would not be so enjoyable.

In summary, people’s lives would not be so enjoyable if humans do not have an “Optimism Bias” and would think negatively, resulting in people not wanting to strive for the better, suicide and illness rates increasing and success rates going down.
